Los Angeles Censures Suspected Prison Abuse … by Alice ..

Dear Ones,

I was surprised and heartened today to find Los Angeles once more in the forefront of prisoners’ rights nationwide. Here is the article I saw on the news stand:

Article: “LA deputy suspected of raping female jail inmates,” by Wes Woods, in the Los Angeles Daily News, 14 September 2017, http://www.dailynews.com/2017/09/14/la-deputy-arrested-for-criminal-misconduct-while-on-duty/ ..

The article cites a Los Angeles deputy is suspected of raping inmates, and terms the criminal nature of such an act ‘horrific’.

This follows a few months after well known ex-Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca received a 3-year jail term for obstructing an FBI investigation into abuses in county jails. (1)

In terms of prisoners’ rights, and also in many other ways, Los Angeles stands out as a national leader. I’m very proud to call the City of the Angels my home.

In love, light and joy,
I Am of the Stars
